Meet the Wilderness Girls

Hello Fellow Equestrians!

Welcome to Amy and Maggie’s Blog. Come along with us as we explore the Rocky Mountain West on horseback. We are lucky enough to live in Idaho and ride in this beautiful area. We are within an hour and a half from heaven in any direction. We have ridden the borders of Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana and have yet to explore other neighboring states. We have put a lot of miles on our horses, as we explore the high country and have had many adventures. We wanted to create this blog so that we can explore this beautiful world with you. We are often asked questions such as, how do we get to the trail head, where to camp, and what do we pack in our saddlebags. We hope to answer all of these questions and more within this blog.

I’m so excited you are doing this! I’ve never been on a blog, at least I don’t think so. Lol I love the pictures you post and some days, picture me in the saddle. I sold my horses a couple years ago. ): Can’t wait to follow your blog!!

Lol. Now that’s a first. I’ve been accused of riding like a “Bat out of you know what before” but to actually be called Bat woman and Robin….made me laugh.

Spent 25 years in Moscow, ID, carrying a pack in Selway-Bitterroot area, 3 years in Rawlins, WY. Now am a mounted explorer based in Virginia mountains. Wanting to identify great campsites, FS or dispersed, that lead to great trails in SE Idaho, NW Wyoming, Sawtooth NRA. 2016 summer trip starting in August. First stop, Turpin Meadows east of Tetons. Suggestions?

What a fabulous idea for you two to start this blog! You and Amy have become somewhat of fb celebrities among us fellow trail riders. The places y’all ride are spectacular, and some of the rides you take, like the pack trips, are enviable. It will be fun, and I’m sure educational, to follow your adventures through this blog. Ride on cowgirls!!

Excited to find this. My son moved fro SE Iowa (where we also live) to Montana last summer. Living in Plains, which is on the western slopes in the Bitterroot Valley. Top on my bucket list is to ride out there this summer. I thought about bringing my own horse, but hate the hassle of trailering that far. Probably would just want to do day rides. Are there any outfitters in that area that do these?
